Hello there! I am delighted to welcome you! I am a climate resilience coach and motivational speaker specializing in moving people out of feelings of climate doom, overwhelm, and confusion and into hope, confidence that you and your loved ones can cope and thrive, and enthusiasm for helping create a world in which all can flourish.
I have always been deeply bonded to the Earth and all beings in the Web of Life. My heart aches for the loss of life, diversity, and ecosystems we humans are causing. That’s why I am committed to doing everything I can to promote climate action.
As an ecologist and naturalist, I have been an environmental advocate for 35 years, most recently laser-focused on climate action and environmental justice. I am keenly aware of the challenges we face with climate change and it would be easy to give into despair.
But I have also become aware that reasons for hope are rapidly increasing. I believe that this time of Earth Changes is the beginning of humanity’s evolution into a new way of being on the Earth that is more equal, inclusive, just, collaborative, and sustainable. I want to share that awareness with as many people as possible – because hope leads to action and this is an all-hands-on-deck moment in history.
Professionally, I’ve been a public speaker, educator, and coach my entire adult life. I believe in making everything I do as dynamic, interactive, engaging, and fun as possible!
When I’m not working or volunteering for climate action causes, I enjoy my wildlife-friendly yard, games and puzzling, walks in nature, learning, drumming and singing, travel, and a lively household of 4 young adults and my 3 year old granddaughter!

Meet Deb
The Creating Climate Hope movement
As many enterprises do, this business grew out of a conversation with a friend. Like many people, she was feeling very hopeless about the future of humanity and the world.
I shared with her some reasons why, from multiple perspectives, I am actually reasonably optimistic about the future of humanity and the world, though I know there are climate change impacts we cannot reverse. She became so hopeful and energized that she asked if I would do a presentation for friends that needed to hear my message.
That workshop, “Hope For The Planet”, had the same effect. People who came in feeling hopeless, anxious, scared, guilty, and paralyzed went out excited, energized, and empowered to take action. Some were even planning together how to take collective action in their neighborhoods and communities. Their world view had shifted 180 degrees! I began to think I was onto something powerful.
Since then, this message has had the same effect every time I have shared it - radical positive transformation, a shifting of world view, and people leaving energized and empowered to take action. And something else too – people eager to help me spread the message. The Creating Climate Hope movement was born!
The Vision
This next decade is going to be an amazing decade! There is already so much exciting climate action, research, and innovation going on in nearly every corner of the world and the rate of that innovation will increase exponentially.
[HInt: Change is not a linear process.]
People taking collective action have always had the potential to reshape our world. Today we need to shape a livable world in which future generations of children and all Earth’s beings can thrive. Creating Climate Hope is about building a movement to support that cause, fostering a community of visionaries, innovators, and doers who will see, feel, and create climate hope through climate action.
Hope is a choice we make, born out of a commitment to focusing on the positive momentum that is building around the world and what we can do to add to it. The faster we can help you to overcome climate overwhelm and paralysis, the happier you will be, the sooner you can take effective action, and the faster we can make a difference addressing climate change!
